HV71 tied with two minutes to go. Then Simon Ryfors stepped up and became a great match hero for Rögle. It was Ängelholmarna’s second straight win and HV’s third straight loss this season.
Adam Tambellini scored the first goal of the afternoon in Jönköping.
Rögle started the season with a home premiere win over Linköping. HV71, on the other hand, had a tough time and started with two losses in a row.
Last season, Rögle finished third and the HV71 fifth in the regular season and between them were their two victories. It was gratifying for RBK that team captain Mattias Sjögren was back before the meeting at Husqvarna Garden in Jönköping.
The first period It started with positions for both teams. Adam Tambellini came straight in with a control from close range and HV71’s Anton Wedin took a dangerous shot just outside the goal in the home team’s first power play.
After just over ten minutes, Rögle had a chance at his first outnumber. Rögle created good pressure against the home goal and both Anton Bengtsson and Leon Bristedt fired without dividends. In the second final, Adam Tambellini’s roast, who was involved in four goals in the premiere, had a chance and was not wrong. With a different shot at the first post from Jonas Gunnarsson, Tambellini was able to score the second goal of the season.
In the final minutes, HV71 had a powerful game again, but Rögle managed to maintain the lead for the remainder of the period.
HV71 created some dangerous situations at the beginning of the second period. Among other things, Alexander Berglund got a free kick on an invitation from Samuel Johannesson, but Christoffer Rifalk made a good save.
After eight minutes, HV71 had to play his third power game of the night, when Leon Bristedt was sent off. However, Lias Andersson of the home team made a great block.
But with five minutes to go in the second period, Rögle regained the lead when Simon Ryfors assisted defender Samuel Johannesson. It was the first goal of the season for the 19-year-old, who in 2019/2020 scored just one goal in the entire season.
The second half ended 1-1 with Rögle’s advantage in shooting statistics, 15-8 at the end on goal.
Rögle led 2-1 before the third half, but it was the home team that initially took over without creating any real chances. HV took an early timeout and got a small lead in the game, but Christoffer Rifalk made a couple of good saves.
With ten minutes to go, Melker Eriksson had a great opportunity to extend Rögle’s lead when he went free with the HV goalkeeper, but he lifted the puck.
Instead, the tie came two minutes from the end of the match through Anton Wedin. But immediately after the coach, Rögle managed to regain the advantage when Simon Ryfors made it 2-3, which was also the final result.
