A large bridge ran aground at Styrsö in the Gothenburg archipelago.
After a full day, the Coast Guard and marine biologists managed to save the great shark in deeper water.
– I’m still 50 years old and I’ve never seen such a big fish caught in the bay, says Suzan Svensson, whose daughter’s cousin caught the fish in the picture.
At 2 p.m. Saturday, Suzan Svensson, 50, received a phone call from her daughter Moa, 21. She told me that a shark would be stranded in Styrsö. Suzan Svensson immediately decided to go to the place.
Once there, he saw a bride lying in shallow water. The shark had swam in a bay with piers and several houses around it.
– My first thought was to help him, at the same time I thought my daughter was swimming in the water, says Suzan Svensson.

Daughter Moa was never in the water. Instead, she was on the ground and her cousin Peter, 27, filmed the shark with a drone.
Suzan declared after a while that the shark, although alive, had stopped moving. At the same time, several people were in the water.
– I live in Donsö, which is nearby, but I grew up in Styrsö, and had never seen such a big fish caught in the bay, he says.

The second largest shark in the world
The bridge you see is five meters long, but it can be up to twelve meters in its largest part. The bride usually lives in the British Isles, but is rare in Swedish waters.
According to Björn Källström, a marine biologist at the Marine Biology Laboratory, it is unusual to see a shark of this type both in Sweden and in Styrsö.
– It is the second largest shark in the world, but it is completely harmless, says Björn Källström.
Björn Källström was contacted by the Coast Guard at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning and when Aftonbladet speaks to him at 16 o’clock, he is still at the scene and participating in the rescue effort to save the shark.
– We have worked with him for two hours and dragged him into deeper water, but now he is in shallower water again, says Björn Källström.
Later that day, the Coast Guard came to the rescue with an inflatable boat to help pull the shark west of Styrsö.
– At 6 in the afternoon, we managed to get it out into deeper waters and release it. I’ve never seen a girlfriend in real life, it was amazing, says Björn Källström.
