PG Gyllenhammar, also known as “Mr. Volvo”, resigned as chairman of the Volvo board in 1993 after almost 24 years as chairman of the board.
At that time the moving cargo went to London and England, but today he lives and works in Toronto, Canada, with his wife Lee Welton Croll and their 4.5-year-old daughter Barrett.
In an interview with Göteborgs-Posten by journalist Britt-Marie Mattsson, PG Gyllenhammar says that they live, as he calls it, a “very good life.”
Quarantined life
But it is not possible to come from covid-19, the virus that of course also reached Canada and made the family unable to move as freely as they were used to.
– We are voluntarily locked up here, says PG Gyllenhammar to GP.
However, it was not Canada that they really intended to move to, but the United States.
However, that won’t be the case as long as Donald Trump is the country’s president, he says.
– The idea was for us to move to New York. But it is not possible with the current president. OMG Trump is disgusting, criminal, says PG Gyllenhammar to GP.
Order over daughter
In 2016, PG Gyllenhammar became a father for the fifth time, 47 years after he last became a father.
He had previously recounted the reactions that followed and that his children from a previous marriage became “very upset,” as he himself called it.
Now daughter Barrett has reached the age of 4.5 years, and PG Gyllenhammar often thinks about the world in which the daughter grows up.
– We also hope that our daughter will grow up and become a person with empathy and compassion for others. Our hope is that she is not attracted to the self-centered approach that seems so widespread among young people as a result of the expansion of social media, she tells GP.
