The researchers began work on developing a simpler coronal test early in the pandemic. The method has now been reviewed and published in the scientific journal Nature Communications.
– Since the method is simpler and cheaper, you could set up covid-19 tests under much simpler conditions, and it would also be very suitable for recurring tests, Björn Reinius tells Ekot.
“Consistency was 98 percent”
The tests do not depend on expensive reagent kits. The reliability of the test method has been evaluated by comparing it to traditional diagnostics of around 600 samples.
– In that comparison, the concordance between ours and that method was 98 percent, if positive and negative results are combined, Björn Reinius tells Ekot.
Interest in the method has been great around the world.
