Sandra, 39, was stabbed to death in her own home: “Bestial”

On March 5, a police patrol was alerted to an address in Majorna, Gothenburg, where a young woman had been found dead. The woman’s name is Sandra Krantz and the violence to which she had been subjected would later be described by a prosecutor as “extreme”.

The murder weapon was a knife and the perpetrator had stabbed him more than 50 times in Sandra’s body.

Shortly after Sandra was found dead, police were able to arrest a 37-year-old known repeat offender suspected of the murder.

In a personal investigation, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service describes the man as “unpredictable to known and unknown people”, “unstable in his actions” and “not receptive to help”.

He has been in custody for much of his adult life, and at the time of Sandra’s murder he had recently been released on probation from his most recent prison sentence.

“A monster”

The man, against his denial, has been prosecuted for the crime and the trial concludes on the part of responsibility. According to the district court, there is “convincing evidence” that the man was guilty of “the acts pursued by the prosecutor in all material respects”.

The district court announces the verdict on Friday.

– I call it a monster. If there is any justice, he should be sentenced to life in prison and never come out again, says Sandra’s mother, Kristina Krantz.

– Not only has he deprived her of life, he has done so in such a brutal way that it is impossible to describe. She has taken my son from me. Some days I can barely get out of bed. But it is not just me who has lost my daughter, but also three children who have lost their mother.

“The best mom of the world”

One of the children is Sandra’s daughter, Julia, 23:

– No matter what they condemn him to, I will never get my mother back. I miss her so much, she says, and continues:

– She was the best mother in the world. She was always there, she was always fun, and she really cared about me and my siblings. We were very close and we saw each other almost every day. It feels so unreal that she’s gone, I don’t think she’s made it yet.

On the same day Sandra was found dead, Julia’s little daughter turned one year old.

– It is also a great sadness that mother never had time to see her grandson grow up, says Julia.

A forensic psychiatric examination has shown that the defendant has a serious mental disorder, which means that he will most likely be sentenced to forensic psychiatric care.

Sandra Krantz turned 39 years old.
