GP reported earlier in the day on the large police operation that took place on Wednesday.
It was at various locations in western Sweden, as well as elsewhere in Sweden, that five people between the ages of 30 and 40 were brought in for questioning, at the same time that several house searches were underway.
The reason was suspicions of serious fraud and money laundering.
A principal is suspected of having made millions by misleading various businessmen and then laundering the money through transactions between various people involved.
– The one we call director is a name in sports, including football. The other four are connected to him in different ways, said Commissioner Magnus Lindegren, head of the fraud section in the West Region.

Now comes information from Fotbollskanalen that one of the detainees must be a Swedish soccer referee. According to the site, the referee must be active and has had assignments at the highest level in Sweden and at the highest level in international football.
