During the match between Halmstads BK and Umeå FC last Wednesday, a player could be heard saying “fucking gypsy” on the Dplay broadcast. After the match, Umeå FC’s Deniz Yaldir says it was Dusan Djuric who made the racist comment against him. Djuric initially denied the incident in an interview with Hallandsposten, but the next day he admitted that he had expressed himself in a racist manner and apologized to Yaldir.
– I am deeply sorry for what I said during a hectic and very infected moment in yesterday’s game against Umeå. Therefore, I want to apologize to Deniz Yaldir and everyone concerned and concerned about my way of expressing myself, which I consider inappropriate, says Djuric in a statement on the Halmstads BK website.
Four-game suspension
The incident was reported to the association by the match referee, Andreas Dufva Johansson. Now the investigation of the Disciplinary Committee is complete and Dusan Djuric is suspended for four games. This means Djuric will miss three Superettan matches and one Swedish Cup match. Only on October 17, when HBK meets IK Brage, will Djuric be able to return.
Halmstads BK plays its next match on Saturday, against Ljungskile SK.
