In the midst of the Corona pandemic, a fight broke out in the coffee room between two co-workers.

Suddenly he smelled or pretended to smell one of them near the colleague’s face.

A 37-year-old man is now being prosecuted for harassment and must pay 5,000 SEK in damages.

The incident took place in late March at a workplace in the Stockholm area, amid the corona pandemic when concern about infection was greatest.

According to the investigation, Lasse, as we can call him, spoke out loud with some other colleagues in the coffee room about a coworker who was quarantined after vacationing abroad.

The 37-year-old man who was sitting and eating at a table from there grew increasingly upset when he thought the party was talking too loud and joking about coughing.

– Why are you screaming? the 37-year-old should have said.

Lasse said they were just kidding.

– Feel free to joke but don’t yell, the 37-year-old is said to have said.

– I do not scream, but I speak like that, Lasse should have answered.

Mounting.

“Put your nose in your mouth”

Then the 37-year-old ran forward and sneezed just inches from Lasse’s face.

– He knew his bodily fluids, Lasse said. Suddenly he stood up with his fist raised.

A riot broke out and a co-worker was forced to intervene.

– The guy was so close that he can put his nose in his mouth when he sneezes, said a witness in the coffee room who urged Lasse to report the incident to the employer.

– I’m surprised that the guy did what he did because otherwise he is very calm.

Had trouble breathing

The 37-year-old is now indicted in district court on suspicion of harassment, Lasse has claimed SEK 5,000 in damages.

– I was worried, so the corona pandemic was the worst, Lasse said. I started vomiting the next day, my head hurt and I was runny. I had to go home from work and it got worse. She had difficulty breathing and I called for medical attention.

Another co-worker from his coffee parlor company fell ill with similar symptoms for several weeks.

The 37-year-old man admitted to the crime but denied it. He thinks he didn’t make fun of Lasse.

– I admit I made an excessive fake sneeze about 50 centimeters above his head. I wanted him to realize that you can get upset if someone else is sitting and coughing in a dining room while others are sitting and eating, which Lasse did.

According to the investigation, the 37-year-old man was suspended from work for a week after the search for Corona and received a warning from the employer.
