Malmö FF faces two very important matches this week:
Tomorrow they will meet Lokomotiva Zagreb at home in the penultimate qualifying round of the Europa League.
On Sunday, a final series against Häcken is at home.
Two wins there and MFF is a group stage win (in the tiebreaker) in the Europa League and takes a firm grip on the Allsvenskan league lead.
But ahead of these two key matches, Sportbladet may reveal a major setback for MFF.
Must be operated
According to our sources, goalkeeper Johan Dahlin will most likely miss the rest of the season when his shoulder needs surgery.
Dahlin has not played a game since Aug. 9 due to injury. MFF, in accordance with its new principles for the year, has not communicated more than that the goalkeeper has an upper body injury.
On Thursday, in the EL qualifier against Honved Budapest, he intended for Dahlin to return. He was included in the official starting XI, but was completely removed from the squad shortly before kick-off when the injury reappeared.
According to information from Sportbladet, it has now been concluded that rehabilitation training will not be enough without having to undergo surgery. In the worst case, the 34-year-old’s career may be over, even if, of course, he hasn’t given up hope.
From MFF, that’s the cover.
Sports Director Daniel Andersson:
Press Officer Peter Sohlmér:
– We never comment on any information about injuries.
Looking for a new goalkeeper
We can also reveal that MFF loses another goalkeeper: Dusan Melicharek, who makes his second round in MFF, has not played a game this year and has been injured in the knee since last summer. The Czechs’ contract is broken and he is leaving Malmö next week.
Daniel Andersson doesn’t want to comment on this either.
This means that MFF has a goalkeeping crisis.
Marko Johansson, who was brought home from the loan to Mjällby this summer, will now have the first goalkeeper. Behind him is two juniors: Lamin Sarr, 19, and Melker Ellborg, 17. Behind the scenes is also Mathias Nilsson, 21, who is on loan to Lunds BK according to the “24-hour model” that allows him to be called back and forth. back during the season, but not in the Europa League.
Therefore, according to information from Sportbladet, MFF is looking for a new goalkeeper, but since the Swedish transfer window is closed, it must be a goalkeeper without a contract.
