It was on the morning of December 11 last year that an employee of a preschool in Lövgärdet, Gothenburg, sounded the alarm.
Near the nursery, passersby had found a dead man on the ground.
The violence to which the man was subjected was severe.
– There are 66 stab wounds to the head, neck and neck, prosecutor Linda Wiking previously explained.
During the police investigation, three alleged perpetrators were identified, two of whom were brought to justice on suspicion of murder and robbery of the victim, who was in his 20s.
The older of the two suspects was 20 years old at the time of the murder, and has admitted that he was at the scene when the man was stabbed to death, but was not involved but later helped move the body.
He was sentenced in district court to two years in prison for theft and felony protection. Therefore, he was cleared of suspicion of murder.
The prosecutor believes the suspect is older
The younger of the two, who was allegedly 16 years old at the time, said on questioning that it was he who stabbed with the knife. He was sentenced for murder and robbery to three and a half years of closed juvenile care in district court. However, prosecutor Linda Wiking has said that she is actually older than she said and that she was 18, not 16, when the murder occurred.
In this regard, the district court wrote:
“In light of the margins of error that exist with respect to medical age investigations and what has otherwise emerged, the district court finds that age 19 does not appear to be more likely than age 17. The district court will then rely on the most favorable age for NN in this context, ie. 17 years.”
Wiking appealed the verdict to the Court of Appeal, and on Wednesday the verdict fell there. There, both men were sentenced to long prison terms for murder.
But in the judgment of the Court of Appeal, it is assumed that the youngest of the men was actually 18 years old at the time of the act and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
In the Court of Appeal, the old man is also sentenced by the perpetrators for the murder, he is sentenced to eleven years in prison.
