On Tuesday, an explosion occurred in the southern Lebanese city of Ain Qana. It is said to have caused several injuries, according to the al-Jadid television channel, which reports the incident live.
In other directions many testify to a strong explosion with subsequent plumes of smoke over the city.
Now, security sources from Reuters and the television channel claim that it is the Hezbollah movement’s arsenal of weapons that has exploded. A “technical error” is said to be the cause, according to a source from al-Jadid, who also says Hezbollah has blocked the site.
A previous report to al-Jadid says the blast took place in a house where a person with ties to Hezbollah lives.

South Lebanon is a stronghold of the Shiite movement Hezbollah and its allies in the Amal movement.
Ain Qana was attacked in 2006 by the Israeli air force and 28 people were killed, including 16 children. The attack targeted Hezbollah’s Katijusha rocket artillery system as part of the Lebanese war that summer.
Israel mourned the civilian casualties but accused the Iranian-backed Shiite movement of hiding behind human shields.
