On Tuesday evening, Gender Equality Minister Åsa Lindhagen joins the crowd wanting to take over as spokesperson for Climate and Environment Minister Isabella Lövin in the Green Party.
Riksdag members Rebecka Le Moine, Annika Hirvonen, Janine Alm Ericson and Märta Stenevi have previously announced that they will participate.
Åsa Lindhagen: “Stand up for people who are having a hard time”
In a post on DN Debatt, Åsa Lindhagen announces her candidacy and talks about the path she thinks the party should take.
“The Green Party is a party that defends people who are having a hard time. However, I often come across the image that we are a middle class party in big cities. But we have always been on the side of the vulnerable people and we need to be much clearer to voters, ”writes Åsa Lindhagen.
He belongs to the phalanx of the party that believes that they should be prepared to leave the government if it promotes issues that go against what the Green Party represents.
“You must be prepared to leave collaborations”
“We must be much clearer when describing the social problems and that we want to go beyond commitments in government cooperation. We must be a party that seizes every opportunity to promote green politics, but is also willing to leave collaborations when commitments cannot be defended, ”writes Åsa Lindhagen.
She believes the party is more necessary than ever when “radical nationalist forces” grow in Sweden and “in times when the climate and environmental crisis is acute.”
“It is time for us to leave anxiety behind. When the opponents mobilize, we must turn our backs and say what it is. That the climate crisis is acute and that politicians with their heads in the sand are traitors. That a shovel is a shovel and racism is racism. Such compassion is crucial to building a good society and that someone should dare to say this in moments when compassion is mocked, “writes Åsa Lindhagen in DN Debatt.
“If I gain the trust as a spokesperson, I will work hard to stick with environmentalists and instill value in a party that is uphill.
