Per and Jael earn well and live on little money, but waste the money on expensive toys for the children.

The couple has acquired debts of 800,000 Swedish crowns and the family is in danger of ending up on the streets.

– We have lived on artificial respiration, says Per in the season premiere of “Lyxfällan”.

The economy had been strained for a long time, but it was when Per’s company went bankrupt that the situation completely failed.

In “The Luxury Trap”, which airs tonight on TV3, he tells about an unpaid bill that can be fatal.

– It belongs to the former owner of the company and is worth SEK 400,000. I miss 100,000 right now, he says on the show.

– The risk is that it will go to the enforcement officer. I worry that we end up somewhere where we don’t have a home.

Has a debt of 800,000

Per and Jael live in Hönö in the Gothenburg archipelago together with their three children. They have a stable income and low housing costs, but despite this, they have accumulated debts of 800,000 SEK.

A major reason for the financial problems is that the couple spends a lot of money on fancy toys for the children.

-We are irresponsible, says Jael when he has realized how much the family regresses each month.

“Let it roll”

In “Lyxfällan,” host Magnus Hedberg notes that uncontrolled spending affects children.

– They have nothing to do with this, if you want to be rude. They are worthy of financial security, he says.

The frank message makes Jael break down.

– We’ve only let it roll all these years. It has worked on some levels but not others, says Per.

“The Luxury Trap” has its season premiere tonight, September 22 at 8:00 p.m. on Viaplay, Viafree and TV3.
