Police searched for drugs – found suspicious bomb

When police searched a Malmö home for drugs on Monday night, they made other finds instead.

Several weapons and a suspiciously explosive object.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of a felony firearms crime, which Sydsvenskan was the first to report.

After finding a man under the influence of drugs in central Malmö, the police conducted a house search of an apartment and a nearby warehouse to search for drugs. Instead, several weapons and a suspected explosive object were found in the apartment.

– During the search of the house, you find two firearms, ammunition and you also find at least one object that you cannot rule out that may be explosive or dangerous in some way, says Nils Norling, press spokesman for Malmö Police, to Aftonbladet.

The man under the influence of drugs was arrested, as well as a woman of about 65 who is next to the place.

– The two were arrested overnight and are still suspected of felony firearms crimes, serious violation of the law on flammable and explosive products, as well as preparation for general destruction, says Nils Norling.

The bomb squad was called in, but there is no information on any home evacuation or that the object actually turned out to be dangerous or not.
