Sweden has been commissioned to build the healthcare stock and the project will be led by the Swedish Civil Contingency Agency, MSB. Jane Larsson (C), Kristinehamn City Councilor, confirms the information for DN that the warehouse will be built there.
– Discussions have come and gone, details will come later. MSB has had a warehouse here for many years, so we see this as a natural part of being a center for authority, says Jane Larsson.
MSB has called a press conference on Tuesday when, among others, is present the Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren, as well as Paraskevi Michou, director general of the EU natural disaster agency, RescEU.
– Kristinehamn is strategically very well located with two airports an hour away – Karlstad and Örebro – close by by train and shipping to Gothenburg. We know that the actions that already exist have worked well for MSB, says Jane Larsson.
It remains to be seen how many more places in Europe will be tasked with strengthening preparedness for natural disasters. Larsson is happy that MSB saw the opportunities in Kristinehamn.
– As I don’t know the details, I don’t know exactly, but of course we look forward to more jobs and it’s always rewarding, big and small. New on the agenda is also a new artillery regiment, after the A9 that was closed in 2000: the area, the location and the opportunities remain, says Jane Larsson.
