He planned to search for his ex Maria to try to recover the 50,000 he owes him.

But at the apartment, 27-year-old Robin met William, who had also been cheated on.

– She is a real sun and spring.

For Robin, it was a call from the police that opened the dams. Erik Jonsson, a fraud investigator at Västerbotten, called and said he appeared in an ongoing preliminary investigation.

– Maria and I had exchanged money, that’s how the police got my number. But she couldn’t say much more than that.

Soon after, Robin received a screenshot of a Facebook post from a friend. It was a call, where a woman who sold a horse to Maria wrote that money was needed.

– The horse cost 50,000, but Maria had only paid the advance of 10,000 and the seller wanted to get her.

Robin and Maria had been together for about a year. He had paid half the purchase price and demanded that his girlfriend do the right thing.

– She denied everything. I wanted to believe in her, but there were so many things that weren’t true, says Robin.

– She was furious and screamed that I was an idiot who did not trust her.

Maria packed a suitcase and stormed out of the apartment. Robin was concerned because she did not know the area and set out to look for her.

– I found Maria after a while and managed to calm the situation. She came home. But sometime after that, she just left.

Maria, 29, denies all the accusations of her ex-boyfriends.

Met on a horse farm

Robin and Maria met for the first time on a horse farm. She worked on the premises and had invited him out for coffee. Robin was immediately struck by how open Maria was.

– At first, most people are a bit cautious and hesitant. But she quickly got into very personal things about her family and whatnot.

– Then I thought it was lovely. But now, in hindsight, I see everything differently. I am convinced that there was nothing true in what he said. She just wanted my trust.

Before Erik from the police called and the screenshot came, he had spent large sums of money on Maria’s behalf.

– Besides the horse, there were veterinary expenses and many other things that he had paid for. In total, he owes me SEK 50,000, says Robin.

I contacted several victims

He began to draw a map of Maria’s life and soon got in touch with several who shared their experiences. It was horse enthusiasts who were duped into buying stolen goods, stable owners who waited in vain for rent, veterinarians who sent unpaid bills to debt collection, and ex-boyfriends who were left with large debts.

In the latest verdict, Robin found an address for Maria. She went there, but her ex was not there. Instead, she met William, who paid 300,000 for what she thought was a mortgage. It would soon turn out that the apartment was sublet.

– I explained to him what had happened and he completely collapsed, says Robin.

He has filed two police complaints against María. In both cases, the investigations have been closed, as it could not be shown that she had the intention of deceiving him.

By telling her story, Robin hopes to warn others.

– Everyone I know who has experienced this is kind and a little gullible. It’s important to be on your guard, even if you’re in love, he says.

Maria denies the accusations made by William and Robin.

– I’m not condemned for that, and I haven’t done what they say.

– It’s probably the police who should call me about this. I don’t want to talk about it anymore.
