Police at a school in Norrlidstorget in Kalmar were alerted after a 13-year-old student deviated from the school.
He was last seen at 09:50 on Monday and staff have been searching for him to no avail.
– We have started work on site. We are talking to the school staff and searching the area and we have some critical points that we need to check, says Evelina Olsson, press spokeswoman for the police in the southern region.

The boy has a mild disability and a poor sense of place, according to police.
According to the police, he is about 170-175 centimeters tall, has a slim physique and short, light hair. You must wear an orange Nike hoodie, blue jeans and sneakers. The child may have two books with him and he likes to go shopping.
The police urge people who have seen the child to contact 112.
