GOTHENBURG / STOCKHOLM. IFK Gothenburg fell at home against the Kalmar jumbo team.

After the match, Blåvitt’s players received death threats and racist accusations against them.

– This is not right, says IFK Gothenburg club director Max Markusson.

On Sunday evening IFK Gothenburg hosted his grand colleague Kalmar.

Nanne Bergstrand and Kalmar won the match 2-1 and thus left the jumbo place in the Allsvenskan. Blåvitt’s defeat means that the distance to the relegation places in the Allsvenskan is narrowing.

After Sunday’s game, death threats and racist accusations were directed at the players at IFK Gothenburg, the club announced Monday afternoon.

“It does not perform better in the face of threats”

“The requirements and expectations belong to football. Threats to life and harassment no.
Acting under pressure is one thing, but no player or leader performs better through threats and hatred. On Sunday night, several people crossed more than one border when they made death threats and racist accusations against players and also contacted relatives to do the same, ”IFK Gothenburg writes in a press release.

According to information, the threats were received through social networks, among other things.

Why do you choose to date threatened players?

– Because it is not right for that to happen, says IFK Gothenburg club director Max Markusson.

Has the police report been filed?

– I cannot answer exactly where we are in the process. But it will happen anyway, he says.

Can you say something about how the threats were made?

– No. We chose to stay there.
