The e-mail system of the University of Gothenburg has been affected by an accident. Since the end of last week, many email accounts have stopped working.

– It affects work almost completely, says Ingemar Skoog, who heads the University’s Center for Aging and Health. He is one of those affected.

Since Friday morning, the university has had problems with its email. This applies to both the email addresses of individual employees and joint functions at the university. Over the weekend, the university’s IT unit along with subcontractors worked to try to restore the email function, and they have succeeded with about half of the email addresses, they write on the website.

– But it is still true that more than half of us have no email left. They don’t have access to your emails and some don’t have access to your calendars. And we have received a message saying that it can last the rest of the week, says Ingemar Skoog.

Many of those working at the University of Gothenburg have contact with other researchers and various partners almost exclusively by email. Now the contact is completely broken.

– It affects the work a lot. It is important for others to know why they are not getting answers from us, who are employed in universities, says Ingemar Skoog.

On the website, the university writes that they attract outsiders in a short message: “Since not everyone has access to your email, we recommend that you call those who need to contact the university.”

Lose emails

Ingemar Skoog has also been informed that there may be a risk that previous emails have been corrupted.

TT has contacted the university for comment.
