Italian Serie A kicked off this weekend and reigning champions Juventus were immediately in the forefront in the opening match against Sampdoria. Under the leadership of former midfielder Andrea Pirlo, Juventus won convincingly 3-0.
As usual, Cristiano Ronaldo had the most scoring chances at Juventus, but it was 20-year-old Swede Dejan Kulusevski who started the goal in the 13th minute.
Ronaldo dribbled forward into the Sampdoria penalty area, but dropped the ball that arrived at the right moment to Kulusevski, who put a precise shot into the lower right corner.
It was Kulusevski’s first goal for Juventus, in his first game with the Turin Club. Last season he played in Parma where he scored ten goals and was voted best young player of the season in Serie A.
Raised on pedestal
Svenska Sportbladet writes that Kulusevski is praised in Italy for his achievement.
– Kulusevski makes his mark directly in the debut. Her goal was a mixture of technique, cunning, and imagination. Almost like a billiard shot, with the ball in the hole, Sportbladet claims that the Italian sports magazine Gazzetta dello Sport writes about the Swede.

Kulusevski consistently received high marks in player ratings from Italian sports websites and was one of the best players on the team, often the best, along with, among others, Ronaldo and Aaron Ramsey.
Despite having a free kick in a decent position in the 67th minute, Juventus attempted a variation that carried the ball to the other end of the box, but Leonardo Bonucci made a spectacular save.
In the end, Ronaldo also had to do what he prefers to do: goals. In the 88th minute, Ramsey played with the Portuguese and this time he did not miss.
Juventus’ 3-0 victory was a borderline feather for Andrea Pirlo, who successfully began his coaching career.
– We didn’t have much time to prepare because the boys played national team games a week ago. We are missing some players (including Paulo Dybala) but we are trying to do our best with available players, Pirlo says according to Reuters.
The season is, of course, in its infancy, but with the pace that Juventus showed against Sampdoria, it is not far-fetched to say that the team is well placed to win its 10th consecutive Italian championship.
