Dadgostar on SD support: “We haven’t adapted”

In the Novus poll on Sunday, it appears that Jonas Sjöstedt (V) is the leader of the party in which voters have the most confidence. But in a month, it’s time for Nooshi Dadgostar to take on the role.

– Of course I am humble, if elected, that our former party leader was so popular. It’s only good for our party, says Dadgostar on SVT Agenda.

“Don’t negotiate with SD”

During the last legislature, V, together with the Christian Democrats and the moderates, has managed to stop several government proposals. But it wouldn’t have been successful if it weren’t for the fact that they also received support from SD. However, Dadgostar does not believe that the support is synonymous with the two sides having cooperated in any way.

– We present the proposals that are ours. We do not negotiate with SD, they vote exactly how they want. But it is important to us that we follow the political proposals that our voters expect, he says.

“Not adapted to the proposals”

The collaboration has been criticized. Rossana Denmark, a former member of parliament for the Left Party, has said, among other things, that V has helped legitimize the Swedish Democrats as a natural part of the bloc with M and KD.

Dadgostar disagrees.

– I do not think it is like that. It gets pretty dangerous and bad if you have the feeling that other parties are silencing us and we don’t have the courage to come up with our own proposals, he says.

She continues:

– But we have not adapted the proposals.

Nooshi Dadgostar is expected to be elected the new party leader during the Left party congress that begins on October 31. Then a new party board will also be appointed.
