Therefore, next year, the January holidays want to increase funding for maternity care and women’s health by SEK 500 million. It is estimated that an additional SEK 500 million will be set aside by 2022. The credits represent an increase in investment already decided in maternity care, women’s health and neonatal care; a total of SEK 1.5 billion will be allocated next year.
National guidelines
Efforts are intended to include, among other things, national guidelines for cohesive care in maternity care and to promote continuity for women during pregnancy, childbirth and aftercare. It should also be possible to provide greater aftercare opportunities where it will be easier to catch mothers suffering from physical or mental problems after delivery.
According to the Center Party, a cohesive care chain in maternity care has already been successfully tested in some places, now they want to develop it across the country. However, it is up to the regions to decide exactly how the money will be used.
– It depends on the regions how you want to use this money, the important thing is that it should be used to make childbirth and newborn activities much better than they are today, says Anders W Jonsson.
“Relatively small money is a big change”
Anders W Jonsson, who is also a pediatrician at Gävle, believes that the money previously allocated has made a difference in the business.
– Most of this money goes to the development of childbirth and neonatal activities, for example, at Gävle Hospital we have been able to see how care has developed so that even children who are born and are sick now are not separated from their parents, that was the rule before. Relatively little money is a big change in daily life for new parents, he says.
