West Brom got off to a great start at the event at Goodison Park via Grady Diangana. The new acquisition struck with his left foot and he could see the shot sail towards Jordan Pickford’s left post.
But Everton would return to the game. In the 32nd minute, Dominic Calvert-Lewin made a pass down the right and came very close to equalizing for the hosts, but did not get the shot wide. And in the final stages of the first half, James Rodríguez scored his first goal with the Everton jersey.
But an accident rarely occurs by itself. First, Kieran Gibbs was shown the red card after hitting an Everton player. Then it was the visiting team’s coach Slaven Bilic’s turn to show himself.
Matheus Pereira, of the visiting team, would have equalized early in the second half, but Everton had no major problems taking advantage of the numerical superiority.
Michael Keane first made it 3-2. Then it was Calvert-Lewin’s turn to put it first 4-2 and then 5-2. Rodríguez assisted the last goal of the game.
The triple means that Everton is ahead in the league.
– We started pretty hard, West Brom hit us hard on counterattacks. We had trouble getting it to settle. But overall, it was a good day for me. My first hat trick and a great team effort, says Dominic Calvert-Lewin to English BT Sport.
