The couple began their long adventure in August 2017 when they left Sweden aboard their sailboat s / y Hilma.
Recently Lisa Lindeberg and Oskar Olausson returned to Lysekil again after completing the planned world tour, when they sum up the trip, they have had time to visit five of the seven continents and around 50 countries and territories, about which Bohusläningen previously wrote.
In addition to the souvenirs, they also took home a dog they adopted from the Caribbean.
Many challenges
They poignantly agree that the trip is the best they have ever taken in life, but there have been many challenges over the three years.
– It is quite exposed on a boat if something happens, if you are at sea many days or weeks may go by without seeing another boat, you are quite small at sea but everything has gone well, says Lisa.
Oskar says that one of the challenges has been to repair parts of the sailboat, when the only thing that has been available has been exactly what is already on board.
Being able to wash clothes and buy food that can last longer has also contributed to this at times, some of the anecdotes tell.
Greenland a favorite for the couple.
– Once when we were going to buy eggs, we had to go back, because they were up on the mountain to find where the chickens laid their eggs and we couldn’t ask for any number, it depended on how many children we found during that morning, they say with a laugh.
But in addition to the challenges that a trip around the world entails, it has also taken the couple to magical places, several of them that can only be reached by boat, something about which the couple published films on their Youtube channel Hilmasailing. .
– We would like to have it intact, we both thrive very well in nature. Some places in the Pacific Ocean probably have the most special. We also made a pretty quick stop in Greenland and it was a favorite. The nature and wildlife were incredible, says Lisa.
He was arrested due to corona
Oskar completes:
– People live a different kind of life, more traditionally with nature and it is very interesting to meet people with a different perspective.
But like many others, they were also affected when the corona pandemic struck in the spring, at the end of the long journey.
– We sailed from Brazil to the Caribbean, it took 12-14 days, it would be our last half year. But they didn’t want to let us in because the crown had arrived, we didn’t know how big it had gotten, we can’t have much control when we’re sailing. They wanted to force us to return to Brazil, but they were also badly affected, but then we found refuge in the US Virgin Islands.
“A trip can be different”
In March, they were unable to sail directly home because there were too many storms at sea, so they stayed in the Caribbean for a while.
None of them believe there will be a new world trip in the future, but they expect new adventures. Although now it feels like a luxury to buy exactly what they want in the supermarket, take a shower at any time and be able to throw the clothes in the washing machine.
– A trip can be in different ways, you can be in a place in Fjällbacka but you don’t have to go to the other side of the world or go that far to do fun things. “I think we will do different trips in the future, but there will probably be no world sailing again,” says Oskar.
