The incident occurred when a police patrol was about to stop a car that was driving carelessly in Tumba at 4.30 pm.

– It was a vehicle that did not stop at the police sign. Related to that, when more patrols joined in, it was perceived that they were trying to run over the police at the scene and would help, says Eva Nilsson, a press spokesperson for the Stockholm Police.

Police patrols chased the car and stopped it so that the people in the car could be arrested. The incident is now being investigated, among other things, as attempted murder and attempted aggravated assault. All those arrested are children under the age of 18, according to police. They were later released following a decision by prosecutors, but suspicions remain.

Many criminal suspicions

– Age is likely to come into play and the prosecutor did not consider that there were grounds for the arrest or that it would complicate the investigation if they were released, says Eva Nilsson.

Later in the evening, new suspicions arose against the young people: infection from a traffic accident, gross negligence in traffic and serious drunk driving. Both the towed car and the police car were to be rescued from the scene, the police write on their website. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
