In late August, a passerby found an injured man in Heden, in central Gothenburg.
Police and an ambulance were called to the scene and the man was taken to hospital, but his life could not be saved.
Since then, a preliminary investigation into the murder has been carried out and a man was brought to the police for questioning on Tuesday.
The suspect has confessed
– He was taken into custody Tuesday morning and admits he delivered the stabbing, prosecutor Linda Wiking said when the man was requested to be taken into custody Thursday.
On Friday he was arrested on suspicion of probable cause for the murder of the victim.
Police have seen the alleged perpetrator and the victim’s conversations on surveillance cameras. The alleged perpetrator was probably the last to see the victim alive and was therefore arrested.
– The police have done a very good job, securing the film and image material and from the plaintiff’s mobile phone. Had it not been for the alert and enterprising cops, we may not have been able to figure this out at all. It is not only the investigation team, but also the police that are in town and that helped with the identification and other things. There has been a strong commitment, Linda Wiking has previously said.
The reason is unknown
It is unknown whether the alleged perpetrator admitted any criminal offense, and the real motive for the event is also unknown.
– It’s not something I want to get into. He admits he landed a hit, I can assure you, says Linda Wiking.
Linda Wiking says the murder suspect and victim are unknown.
Has a business or similar gone wrong? Since they are unfamiliar.
– There’s nothing I want to date. We know they have been in contact before. They are not familiar, but this day they have been in contact.
