The ice hockey club Frölunda have decided to abandon his Indian. It has been around since 1995, partly under the club’s brand and partly under the additional name “Indios.” But now it is being phased out, and starting in the 2021/2022 season, a new logo will be installed.
“We are not affected by the opinion that exists in the world,” says the club president Grauers floor mats as motivation for DN.
And that’s exactly what bothers me about this news. It’s too flattering for Frölunda that the spirit of the age has made their logo look like “troublesome” rather than the most quirky and embarrassing thing to ever happen in Swedish history.
I was on In the 1990s, all Swedish clubs had to get names and logos from twelve-year-old hockey card collectors. It was Djurgården Lions, Färjestad Wolves, HV71 Blue Bulls and so on. Most idiotic was Frölunda and, unlike the other clubs, which after a couple of seasons abandoned the Americanized bum, the Gothenburgers have persevered with their prairie warrior for 25 years.
But now, as a gift from above, Frölunda has been given the opportunity to introduce his Indian to the history of the fight for American rights, which, among other things, meant that the NFL team Washington Redskins announced earlier this year they would change their name.
So Frölunda must now abandon the Indian because he is insensitive, instead of being forced to do so by ridicule and harassment. It doesn’t feel good. That should not be the story. They must not be allowed to undo the misery he The pretext. Regardless of the inappropriateness of the Gothenburg Indian, we must never forget that the main problem was the astronomical levels of idiocy.
