A minor student suspected of abusing another student at an elementary school in Uppsala has been suspended.
The other student was taken to the hospital after the incident yesterday afternoon.
Christina Stenhammar, Acting Head of Primary School in Uppsala Township, describes the incident as extremely serious.
– Of course, the school takes the incident very seriously. The student is suspended and a report has also been made to the principal, of course, he says.
Designated crisis group
Uppsala youth emergencies were called after the incident and are also at the school today so that students, but also staff, feel safe. No similar incident should have occurred at the school recently, according to the elementary school principal. The school principal has appointed a crisis group and social services have participated.
Stenhammar has no information on how the injured student is feeling today or if he was allowed to leave the hospital. The student was awake and talkative when he was taken to the hospital Thursday.
Police, which qualify the incident as an aggravated assault, have not released any information that any cover was used in the dispute or how involved each party was.
– It will be investigated, says Jonas Eronen, police press spokesman.
Stenhammar says there is a risk that the incident was filmed and urges the school and guardians to talk to the children about not showing these types of films which also generate rumors.
