Starting Monday, parking guards will be able to clean up the mess from carelessly parked electric scooters, writes SVT Nyheter.
It’s the Stockholm city parking guards who get the most responsibility during a trial period of a couple of weeks. It is by testing the same equipment space that it allows driving in badly parked cars as possible, explains traffic councilor Daniel Helldén (MP), from SVT. If the system is approved by the traffic committee, electric scooter companies can charge for each incorrectly parked scooter that parking guards are forced to move.
– It is estimated that it will be around SEK 300 per electric scooter, says Daniel Helldén (MP).
There are already apps where you can report improperly parked electric scooters. Just a couple of days after the launch in Stockholm, 10,000 reports had been received and then handled by the city’s traffic bureau and electric scooter operators.
