The moderates have presented a 10-point program with proposals to reduce crime in Sweden. One of the proposals is to expand the Law of Special Control of Foreigners (LSU) to include criminal gangs. Currently, the law allows people to be deported without sentencing if they pose a risk to national security or are at risk of committing terrorist crimes.
In SVT’s “Aktuellt,” the issue was debated between party leader Ulf Kristersson and Justice Minister Morgan Johansson.
“More foreign nationals who commit crimes in Sweden or who are in environments where there is an imminent risk that they will pose a danger to Swedish security, must leave the country,” said Ulf Kristersson.
Criticism of the minister: “Final plan”
Morgan Johansson was very critical. In “Aktuellt” he stated that LSU is an exception that should not become the rule. The minister also said that deportations run the risk of becoming random.
– Then you should be suspicious here. Therefore, you should not continue with the crimes that people have committed, but the crimes that can be committed. So you understand that here you are on an inclined plane, said the minister at SVT.
He continued:
– You want to be Prime Minister of Sweden. I would like to say that if you are not prepared to defend the rule of law in a country like ours, you will never be able to become prime minister.
Kristersson responded that deportations should not take place randomly, but after police suspicion followed by the legal sequence that takes place when deciding on LSU.
– If you don’t take it seriously, you endanger the security of the entire country, said Kristersson at SVT.
The moderates presented the proposal during the morning.
