Tram driver reported: spread finger and yelled sex words into loudspeaker

It was during lunchtime on Tuesday that Natalie was on tram line 10, rushing home to catch up on a digital conference that would begin at 1 p.m.

Natalie, who was ready with her mobile phone, captured the action in an image.

Subsequently, she called Västtrafik customer service, who complained about Natalie’s experience. She was also allowed to submit a written complaint.

– I have paid for bus passes all my life and I do not want to be called a fag on the loudspeaker for it.

The driver has reported to the police.

The tram drivers in Gothenburg’s scheduled traffic are employees of Gothenburg Tramways. Complaints and comments that Västtrafik receives from current drivers are also sent to the company.

On Thursday, Gothenburg Tramways received a customer case about the incident and is now awaiting an investigation process.

– Now the driver’s immediate manager is contacted to attend to the driver in a call where they will find out what happened, says Anette Johansson, communications manager for Gothenburg trams.

– We are always careful to agree and it is always important to hear the version of both parties.

After speaking with the police, Natalie has also reported the incident to the police, but adds that she does not want him to be prosecuted, but that it is a trademark.

– I don’t want him to lose his job, but in a service profession you may have to put up with a little more and not be so provoked. People stood up and laughed because they refused to listen, says Natalie.

Communications manager Anette Johansson says customer service is part of driver training, but is currently unable to say more about potential penalties.

– We can only comment more after listening to the version of both parties.
