The 58 new cases that could be confirmed between week 37 of Thursday and Thursday of this week represent a marginal increase compared to the 51 new cases that were confirmed the previous week.
However, the region can affirm that the figure remains at the same level of increase in comparisons with previous weeks, where the number of new confirmed cases was around 15 per week.
As we have previously written, the increase in the number of cases by region could be explained by the fact that the number of tests increased.
– For us that figure does not stand out at all, but it is the case that we have a drastic increase in the number of tests carried out. We currently run around 26,500 tests a week. Before, it was between 3,000 and 4,000, infection control doctor Malin Bengnér said at the time.
Malin Bengnér could not draw any further conclusions from the increase in the number of cases, but said a reasonable comparison can only be made after next week’s update, when the number of tests will be at a similar level.
