At 3.30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, a 100-year-old man from Kungsbacka had a strange conversation.
– It happened that a man was called by another man who said he represented Swedbank. He explained that he would come to collect the bank cards and after a while he showed up, collected all the bank cards and disappeared, says Peter Adlersson, the police spokesman in the western region.
The 100-year-old man and his wife began to suspect trouble and called the police.
“Terrible way to behave”
– We went home with the man and helped him block the bank cards, but before that at least 8,000 SEK had been deducted from the cards. It’s a terrible way to behave, says Peter Adlersson.
Currently, there are no suspects in the case.
– These scammers are changing their approach. They do it a little differently, but the purpose is the same. There are various ways of relating to the elderly, sometimes they can boast of being a landlord, municipality or similar, says Peter Adlersson.
