The City of Gothenburg terminates the framework agreements with Front Advokater AB with immediate effect.

An external review was initiated after the media, Göteborgs-Posten and Lerums-Tidning, reviewed the municipality’s agreement with Front Advokater AB. The investigation revealed information that the law firm had made serious mistakes against the municipality.

The external audit showed, among other things, indications that the invoices did not comply with the time report.

According to GP’s review, employees have testified that management was in a system to charge for time not worked.

– The audit found certain errors, while errors elsewhere could not be fully proven. It was not enough to substantiate the more serious allegations of deficiencies, Henrik Karlsson, Managing Director of Purchasing and Procurement, says in a press release.

Reporters come forward and testify

During the external review, there has only been anonymous information, and then it has been difficult for the City of Gothenburg to go ahead with the case. But these days, several informants have decided to come forward and testify.

– The problem has been that we have not been able to act while the sources have been anonymous to us. But with your decision to testify if necessary, our written investigation can now be supplemented by your oral statements. This means that we are now terminating the framework agreements with Front Advokater, says Henrik Karlsson.

The Gothenburg City Council considers that Front Advokater has acted in a way that constitutes “a serious breach of contract and an error in the exercise of the profession”.

– This is a very serious situation. We don’t know how far we can go when it comes to claims for reimbursement and damages, in this situation we have to take one step at a time. We are now terminating the deals, but we can probably be absolutely sure that this is not the last event in this story, says Henrik Karlsson.

The Law Firm’s Response

Bob Lee is the CEO of Front Advokater AB and says he just read the decision from the City of Gothenburg.

– It’s too early to say anything. We just made this decision ourselves and I have no comment at this time. We’ll get back to it, says Bob Lee.
