The 1-0 goal came in the 55th minute. Just seven minutes later, Danish Jeppe Andersen received his second yellow card. With ten players, the climb became too steep for Hammarby and they were never close to a draw. Instead, Jakub Kaminski extended it to 2-0 with a determined shot in the 89th minute. He extended it to 3-0 with a rock-hard shot in overtime.

Good start

Hammarby, without key players Darijan Bojanic and Muamer Tankovic, started well and took over the match. The first half was level in terms of play, but it was Hammarby who had the good chances. Aron Johannsson came close to extending the visitors lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass down the middle, but he lifted the ball over Lech Poznan and was a little too high and hit the crossbar. A couple of minutes later, it was Gustav Ludwigson’s turn to burn a free kick.

Hammarby goalkeeper David Ousted also showed class when Swede Mikael Ishak entered the penalty area free at the end of the half.

– The first 15 Bajen had full control. But then we go back. And in others we showed that we were here to win, Ishak told Sportexpressen after the game.

Lech better in others

In the second half, Lech Poznan took control and pushed Hammarby back initially. In the 55th minute, Kalle Björklund would receive a pass backwards, but lost it to Pedro Tiba, who was able to pass the ball completely free over Ousted.

Paulinho had a chance to equalize after an hour when he fired from a good position near the penalty area, but two minutes later came Bajen’s kill when Jeppe Andersen received his second yellow card after an offensive free kick into the penalty area of opponents.

The rest of the game was in a bad mood. In addition to Andersen’s two yellow cards, Hammarby received another five, while Lech Poznan received three cautions.

Hammarby was too worn out to make a final push. Lech Poznan could have given the visitors a more comfortable lead, if their free kick had gone a little lower.

– We did a pretty good first half and created good chances. But the goal and the sending off is what you have on your retina, coach Stefan Billborn told Sportexpressen.
