Now Carl Bildt is reacting to Alexei Navalny’s poisoning

Alexei Navalny is a well-known critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin and leader of the opposition in the country.

During a trip to Siberia on August 20, he collapsed, shortly before boarding a plane.

He was first treated in the Siberian city of Omsk. Russian health officials claimed he was not poisoned.

Navalny was then transferred to the Charité hospital in Berlin, where tests confirmed that the collapse was caused by the neurotoxin Novitjok.

On Tuesday, Navalny posted a photo on Instagram. At the same time, he spoke for the first time since the poisoning.

“I still can’t do almost anything, but yesterday I was able to breathe on my own all day. All alone. No outside help, not even the simplest valve in the throat. I liked it very much.” wrote, among other things.

Navalny recovery questioned – in Russia

On Wednesday, the image graced the front pages of newspapers around the world.

Also in Russia, but with a different angle. The Kremlin-friendly tabloid Komsomolskoye Pravda notes that Navalny recovered surprisingly quickly. In addition, the newspaper questions how bad it really has gone.

Carl Bildt believes that the consequences for Russia could be great.

– The foreign policy price for this is huge, he explained on Wednesday’s episode of SVT’s “Utrikesbyrån” show.

Bildt has met Navalny several times and says later in the show:

– When I saw him for the last time, what bothered him the most was not the threat to himself, but to his brother. Then they had locked his brother for a long time in a solitary cell with no communication about something he had just invented.
