SEK 105 million is set aside for care and SEK 195 million for care in a so-called sustainability bonus. With this, the government now wants working conditions in the caring professions to be more sustainable and, in the long run, to make the professions more attractive to young people.

– It is project money that you are requesting and the details of what the proposal should look like are not yet clear. But it should not be distributed to all municipalities and regions, says Isabella Lövin.

– This is an opportunity for employers to think about the work environment, how to better design it for greater sustainability, and for staff.

The government hopes that Among other things, this will mean that sick leave will be reduced and more people will remain in the caring professions.

To counteract segregation in socio-economically vulnerable areas, the government will strengthen with SEK 250 million in 2021.

The third initiative that was presented was the increase in maintenance support for single-parent families.

– I, who grew up with a single mother, know how difficult it can be. At the same time, I know that there are many who feel much worse, said Per Bolund.

– Behind the numbers, there are thousands of children who today do not have the same opportunities as their friends. This is not how we should be in one of the richest countries in the world.

That is why the government is directing now a support for single parents. Support will increase by SEK 150 per child per month for children aged 15 and over and SEK 100 for children under 15 years of age. This will take effect in June 2021 and is estimated to cost 100 million.

The fourth and final government proposal is to increase funding for the housing subsidy. This is because the housing allowance in 2020 was higher than expected and therefore the government is proposing to add 531 million SEK for this year.

The government will present the 2021 budget bill in its entirety on Monday, September 21.
