Khaddi Sagnia.
It was a new giant leap for Khaddi Sagnia at the Zagreb gala.
New personal record with 6.92 in the final round.
It has never been closer to seven meters.
– Yes, my God. So cute, so cute, Khaddi screams on the phone from Zagreb that only she can do.
Khaddi set his last personal record as recently as the Bauhaus Gala on August 23 this summer when he jumped 6.83.
Now he increased it three inches and then he was very happy.
– Yes, I immediately felt that it would be a long way, the last steps towards the iron were the ones that I love the most. And when I landed, I heard the crowd and knew I was far away. It’s so good to finally be over 6.90. But there will be more. This is just the beginning, says Khaddi.
The best series ever
Now he had the best series in his history, with five passed jumps and the series 6.61 – x – 6.83 – 6.74 – 6.74 – 6.92. He had the four longest jumps in the competition.
It’s absolutely world-class and a series rumored that that historic seven-meter jump can come at any time.
– Yeah, she can’t just jump it. She can jump 7.10. She has the speed and the strength, says her manager Daniel Wessfeldt.
And Khaddi agrees.
– Sure why not. There is so much more to collect. I came back this summer after the last injury that made me lose last season. Now I have not had any stress, but I have been able to build myself to a new level. I think it was perfect for me. This was my best competition, she says.
She also jumped to third place in the world this year, where Germany’s Malaika Mihambo leads with 7.03.
Then Khaddi had no help from the wind which was around zero all night.
Aiming for the Swedish record
It’s time for Erica Johansson to start worrying about her Swedish record of 6.99, which has been held since 2000.
– Yes, I have not thought so much about that album, but I spoke with my sister who took it up again this week. It’s been going on for a long time, he told me. And that is true.
Now Khaddi has a chance to beat him. The season will end with the Diamond League gala in Doha on September 25.
– Yes, it will be fun to get there to jump into the World Cup arena, because I missed the World Cup last year, he says.
Up to nine Swedes were in Zagreb and many had good results and the best of the new year.
Johan Rogestedt ran ninth in 1500 meters with a time of 3: 37.56. The best of the new year and just seconds from the personal record of 3.36.58
Hanna Hermansson was second in the 800 meters in 2: 02.66 and Meraf Bahta fourth in 2: 04.48.
Crooked hugs
Erika Kinsey was second in female stature with 1.90 behind the superb Julia Levchenko (1.93). The Ukrainian finished with three failed attempts at 2.00.
Andreas Kramer sadly crouched down in the men’s 800 meters and fell steeply on the field the last 50 meters. Now he finished sixth in a time of 1: 45.39. Kramer, who set a Swedish record until last Tuesday, when the clock stopped 1: 44.47 at the Czech Ostrava.
