Police never received an alarm that a work accident had occurred at SSAB in Luleå on Monday, local media reported. Three men were injured in the accident.

The company claims that it has alerted SOS Alarm in accordance with current practice. So it seems that the communication between the SOS Alarm and the police has been broken.

– SOS initially receives this as a case of care and does not appear in the alarm chain that it is an accident at work, says André Westberg, duty officer in the police, to SVT Nyheter Norrbotten.

According to Sarah Hummerdal, SOS Alarm Press Officer, the routines have been followed as they should.

– It happens that we alerted the police, but there is no assignment in SOS Alarm to do it in this type of accident and therefore it was not possible, he tells Norrländska Socialdemokraten.

Three men in their 50s were injured when they removed lime from a tanker. Two had to leave the hospital on Tuesday. The third is under observation, according to SVT.

As a result of the alarm, the police environmental crimes investigator was unable to begin work until Tuesday.
