Prestigious acquisitions Kai Havertz and Timo Werner began with Chelsea.

But it was Reece James’s own product that decided against Brighton with a dream goal.

Chelsea won 3-1 after Kurt Zouma marked the final score.

“We knew it would be difficult to come here and we knew we had to do everything we could to get the three points and we did it,” Reece James tells Sky Sports.

For Graham Potter and Brighton, there was more salt in the wounds late in the first half when Adam Lallana, Liverpool’s newest acquisition, was injured.
