Häcken had a chance to score three points leading Malmö FF in the close battle of the Allsvenskan. But Sirius managed 1-1 in the away game in Hisingen. – We do not compete against Malmö, we compete against the ones we meet in the day, says Häcken coach Andreas Alm.

Sirius put in one of the best efforts of the year, with a lot of will to run and a moving offense with good control.

Häcken tied on a penalty kick in the fifth extra minute.

– Sirius gave us a difficult match. We should be happy with a point at the end, says Jasse Tuominen, scorer for Häcken, to Dplay.

The Uppsala team’s first goal came eight minutes after the break. Yukiya Sugita landed a clever pass to attacking left-back Axel Björnström, who beat the talented Pontus Dahlberg into Häcken’s goal.

– I sprained that foot in the week, so I felt like you scored with a stiletto, says Björnström.

The goal was the fourth of the year for Björnström, who also had time for five goal passes.

In the 78th minute, Sirius had a fantastic chance to reply, but his shot went harmlessly into the side net of the goal. First, the ball was thundered off the crossbar by substitute Karl Larson, and on the return Stefano Vecchia shot the post.

But Häcken got a point in the end.

– When they put a lot of pressure at the end, we get a little depressed. They have attacking players for a long time who win the duels, says Axel Björnström.

– But they hit like 100 long balls and it was like a scoring opportunity. I still think we got it right.

Frame two Häcken’s coach Andreas Alm defended himself against the “missed opportunity to score more in Malmö” reasoning.

– A good soccer game. Finally I am very happy with the result. Does everyone think we’re going to see Malmö? We want to keep Sirius behind us at the table, Andreas Alm says emphatically.

– Then we have to deal with Elfsborg and Malmö, those are the next two matches, separately, Alm emphasizes and looks towards Häcken’s next meetings with the main competitors.

Sirius coach Henrik Rydström was clearly pleased with the team’s effort at Hisingen.

– I think we can still be leaders in the game and create so much, that shows the level of our performance, says Rydström.
