For ten years Benjamin Antwi, 40, has been asked the same questions when traveling by train between Copenhagen and Malmö.
– If I take the train and a police officer arrives, it feels as if in 80 percent of the cases they ask me: Where have you been? Where are you going? How long have you lived here? What do you have in your bag? It feels like rape. For ten years I have had the same questions, he tells Aftonbladet.

When he challenged a passport control during his trip home from Copenhagen last Friday, a conflict arose.
– A policeman came and said I should take off my headphones. So I thought no, that I shouldn’t do that, I turned the music down and listened to what he was saying. But that was not enough for him.

The border police are now responding to the criticism.
– I understand that the movie clip that was released on social media about the incident stirs up emotions, but there may be circumstances behind the actions of the police that are not evident in the film, says Thommy Brännström, head of the border police at the southern region, in a press release.

The criticisms have been mainly that Benjamin Antwi was suspected because of the color of his skin.
– We have clear guidelines on how inspections should be carried out. Intervening based on a person’s ethnicity and appearance is not compatible with the values of the police, says Thommy Brännström.
