Four public employees are charged with bribery after receiving video games, IT equipment and gift cards in connection with IT courses, SVT Nyheter reports.
All four are employed in Region Blekinge, Region Dalarna and in a municipality in Ångermanland.
Prosecutor Alf Johansson told the television channel that he expects more people to be prosecuted in the investigation, which has included suspicions against a couple of hundred officials in some 70 authorities, municipalities and regions over several years.
The Labcenter training company that offered the courses has been closed. The former employees have been investigated for gross bribery, but the suspicions against them have been dismissed because the crime could not be proven.
“Sometimes it cannot be shown that the suspect understood that the recipient could not receive what was given,” Johansson told SVT.
The latest chairman of the company’s board of directors tells SVT Nyheter that the gifts were not intended to be used privately, but by employers who purchased the courses for their employees.
