Ahead of this year’s season, Linus Klasen, 34, is back at SHL.
Three years ago he played in Lugano, Switzerland and the family had just joined. One day the youngest son, Connor, who was two months old at the time, began to shake and vomit.
Connor was airlifted to the hospital for treatment.
He had contracted meningitis, a type of meningitis, and was being treated with a respirator.
– We walk and prepare for the worst. Doctors couldn’t guarantee that he would be okay. In most of the cases they had seen, the boy wakes up, but he is a vegetable, Linus Klasen tells SVT.
“Emma went gray and I lost a lot of weight”
He continues:
– We talked a lot to each other about what we would do if he died, then a lot was happening. Emma went gray and I lost a lot of weight and tried to train and so on. It was tough, but she was strong and she managed.
Today, Connor is a thriving three-year-old, but it is still difficult for Linus Klasen to open up about the traumatic moment.
– Actually, I’ve never talked about it that way. I have talked about it with my wife several times, but otherwise it is cover. It’s hard to look at photos and stuff. I’m just trying to enjoy making it feel good, he tells SVT.
