The savings proposals of the consultants for the healthcare sector: SEK 1.5 billion per year

Consulting firm McKinsey has submitted a proposal on how Scanian healthcare can save at least SEK 1.5 billion a year. Several of the savings proposals are already being implemented.
Some proposals that will provoke debate are to move even more planned operations to smaller hospitals, and that each hospital should reduce its staff.

McKinsey reports are filled with bar graphs comparing Scanian hospitals. The consultants note that the workforce and costs are growing faster than health care output. Doctors see fewer patients, each nurse and nursing aide sees fewer patients each year.
