Ready for the Dutch league on Friday – Elfsborg scorer on Saturday. Back on Swedish soil, Jesper Karlsson rose to the top of the shooting league in the crossover match against Djurgården. – It was a long day, says the 22-year-old after 1-1 on Tele2 Arena.

Jesper Karlsson had an intense day behind him when Elfsborg visited Djurgården, something that was not noticed when the game started in a rainy Tele2 arena.
As recently as Friday, the 22-year-old was ready for the Dutch AZ Alkmaar, which according to Aftonbladet paid around 27 million SEK for the player from the Swedish U21 team.
– My heart beats for Elfsborg, so it’s fun that they get money. Then you need to think about the crown as well, which can make the price go down a bit. I’m still happy
– I got up at 05 yesterday, then it was just to go there and have a medical examination, meet the team, the sports manager and everyone. So it was just a matter of writing. And then the return home. It was a long day, Karlsson says.
Although it had only been hours since he realized his professional dream, he managed to adapt and perform at the same level as throughout the season.
The game was close to being wild at times, and Karlsson’s Robert Gojani received a second yellow card after 21 minutes; your ticket out of the game.
Djurgården goalkeeper Per Kristian Bråtveit was only allowed to act as an extra when the ball was low near the Norwegian’s right post.
The goal meant Karlsson moved up on a shared shooting league lead alongside IFK Norrköping’s Christoffer Nyman, both on ten hits.
And there may be more. The contract with AZ will not go into effect until September 28, unless AZ advances to the Champions League playoffs. So it is September 18 that applies.
– As they say now, if they win the Champions League qualifying round, I’ll go down after Mjällby’s game on September 17th. But if they don’t go ahead, I’ll stay at IFK Gothenburg at home (September 27), says Karlsson, who has long had his sights set on the Dutch league.
– I have always had in mind that I want to play in Holland. I like his way of playing football, very offensive and a bit of the style of play that I have. So that was pretty obvious.
Unfortunately for Karlsson, his goal against Djurgården was not decisive in the match. The home team started the second half drawing already in minute 47.
Jesper Karlström’s free kick, from his own field, Edward Chilufya coldly finished between the legs of goalkeeper Tim Rönning and the tie was a fact.
The draw means that the qualifying situation remains unchanged at the Swedish top, where Djurgården and Elfsborg can continue to pursue second Häcken and league leader Malmö.
