In Malmö, the burning of the Koran by Danish right-wing extremist politician Rasmus Paludan sparked violent riots. Stock Photography.
Despite being denied permission to demonstrate, the right-wing extremist party Tight Course claims that the Koran will still be burned in various Stockholm suburbs.
Imam Hussein Farah urges Muslims in the Järva area to calm down.
– It is unacceptable that what happened in Malmö happened here, he says.
Rasmus Paludan, party chairman of the Danish Stram course, has been denied a demonstration permit in five different districts of Stockholm this weekend. According to the app, he still plans to burn Koran, something that worries residents of the Järva area, among other places.
– There is no doubt that there is a concern, tells TT Hussein Farah, imam of the mosque of the Islamic Cultural Center in Rinkeby.
According to him, the purpose of Paludan is to collect political points by provoking violent reactions among the locals.
“You shouldn’t get what you want”
– My message to Muslims is not to listen to this man (Paludan) and not to destroy people’s property. The Holy Quran is important to us, but now civil society is working with the police and the authorities to make sure that this man does not get what he wants.
Behind the message are 15 Muslim organizations in Stockholm. This week, representatives of the mosques have met and talked before the weekend.
On-site security hosts
At the same time, the residents of the Järva area will pledge to remain calm. Security hikers will be on site in different parts of Stockholm on Saturday to “show resistance in a non-violent way,” according to Lina Mohageb, one of the initiators of the Facebook call “Shlm against hate.”
– When there is a large presence of people to keep calm, it has an effect, says Lina Mohageb.
Several mosques and leisure centers will also have open houses so people can have a place to go if there are any concerns, he says.
