The vice chairman of the Swedish Democratic Party, Henrik Vinge, also a leader of the group in the Riksdag, believes that the government is finally beginning to speak clearly about the connection between the large reception of refugees from Sweden and the increase in violence from the gangs.
It refers to the Expressen debate on gang crime between Justice Minister Morgan Johansson (S) and M leader Ulf Kristersson on Thursday.
– It is good that Kristersson is putting pressure on Johansson, we must go in the direction of stricter sanctions and more police. At the same time, Johansson is correct that Kristersson himself has been in a government that has had eight years to solve problems, but has not. Much worsened during those years. Ulf Kristersson’s credibility is not very high. The core of the poodle is the great asylum immigration. Without him, we wouldn’t have had such big problems today, says Henrik Vinge.
What is your view of the situation?
– My image is that this is entirely due to asylum immigration. This is an important factor that we really must dare to talk about. I’m glad the Prime Minister mentioned it the other day, because he has refused to admit it all these years. It is obvious that large asylum immigration has led to large areas of exclusion, hopelessness and the feeling that one does not belong to Sweden or have the same opportunities, which makes gang crime attractive.
Morgan johansson says that really it is a class problem. Do you seem to be reasoning in similar terms?
– Yes, what happens when you have a very large asylum immigration is that many people end up in vulnerable areas, ghettos, where almost everyone has a foreign background. Many people find it difficult to find work because they do not know the language, and it becomes a culture of being different in the mainstream society. An ethnic class is created. I think it is extremely tragic for many reasons, especially for people who grow up in these areas, who are born with significantly worse conditions than people who grow up in other areas.
– The important thing is to create structures so that it does not become like that, and this has completely failed. Now we are in the middle of the crisis and we must work in the short term to put out fires, instead of dedicating ourselves to the long term work.
Focus on preventive work
Sweden’s Democrats are currently working on a package on various measures to tackle gang crime. Henrik Vinge emphasizes that in addition to tougher sanctions, they see the need for new preventive measures.
– What I have missed in the debate is that we must reduce the appeal of gangs. Today, it seems that you get status and money as a criminal. To break this and stifle gang resources, we need to open records between different authorities. As soon as gang criminals post images of a bundle of tickets or a speeding car on the internet, the compliance officer will knock on the door. When, for example, younger people in the gang environment are sentenced to community service, it should be served in the immediate area, so that even the younger children who may have idolized this person understand that it is not an attractive path. to choose.
Sounds like a smoother look than SD previously had in these questions?
– You cannot solve everything with just one tool. “We have been alone before in talking about stricter measures, and that is what we are associated with, but it has never been the case that we just stand up for it,” says Henrik Vinge.
