ÖREBRO / STOCKHOLM. Allsvenska’s competitors appealed.
And they moved their matches.
That infuriates the Malmö FF coach.
– Scandal, says Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Häcken’s meeting with Djurgården and AIK’s meeting with Sirius secured new playing dates since Häcken and AIK appealed to the Swedish Football Association. While Malmö’s match against Örebro, where ÖSK won 3-2, was decided as planned on Thursday 10th September.
The MFF coaches think that Häcken and AIK have deviated from the agreement of the Swedish clubs.
– It’s a scandal, it’s that simple. Now I know very well that they are legally right about that, but when you agree on something before the start of the season, it is a scandal that they do not fulfill their agreements, says Jon Dahl Tomasson at the press conference after the loss to Örebro.
“Maintains the agreement”
The reason the black and yellow clubs wanted to move their games on September 9 and 10, respectively, was that they had multiple players on national team assignments close to their matches with the Allsvenskan. Malmö never asked to find a new date for the match, as they want to fulfill the agreement.
– We keep the agreements we made at the beginning of the season, which the other clubs do not. If you make an agreement, you keep it. It is not advantageous that we have four players out (Anders Christiansen, Denmark, Arnor Traustason, Iceland, Isaac Kiese Thelin, Sweden and Felix Beijmo, U21) and AC will return as it does, says Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Beijmo played a qualifier for the European Championship on Tuesday (September 8) and Christiansen and Traustason sat on the bench for their national teams on the same day.
In the meeting with Örebro, Christiansen had a feeling in the calf and had to change in the 21st minute.
