Several killed in fires: thousands flee their homes

The California state city is one of many affected by violent wildfires. In all, nearly 100 fires are occurring in the western United States.

Dead one year old

Yesterday, alarms came from Oregon that five communities were more or less destroyed by the fire.

To date, at least seven people have died in California, Oregon and Washington. Among the victims is a one-year-old boy, reports the Washington Post.

“This could lead to the largest loss of life and home from wildfires in our state’s history,” said Oregon Democratic Gov. Kate Brown at a news conference.

The situation has been complicated by strong winds, difficult-to-access topography and dry land. As a result, the fires have spread to cities, where the sky and ground are a deep red.

Thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes, according to the Washington Post.

Greta Thunberg: “Our biggest focus”

On Thursday night, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg drew attention to the natural disaster. On her Instagram, she writes:

Reporting is not enough. Connecting one by one is not enough. It is not enough to mention the connection to the climate crisis (although it helps a lot …). If we want to have a small opportunity, this must be our main focus ”.
